The WAVE™ and AIRA™ technology suites were born out of the calculated misinformation campaigns and imminent risk to public health, stemming from Big Vape product development. Historically, vape and e-cigarette brands focused on user experience as the primary tool to drive their reduced risk product portfolios rather than focusing on consumer safety. Despite the mounting evidence that heat-based tobacco and nicotine products still produce unsafe levels of toxins and carcinogens, their focus has not changed.

Respira, in turn, looked to technologies in the medical device landscape in order to inform how we engineer our products with inherent safety as the fundamental basis of our development. Only then could we graduate towards creating a pleasurable and user friendly experience.

The Problem in Nicotine & Tobacco
Vapor from e-cigarettes contains Harmful and Potentially Harmful Constituents (HPHCs) according to the FDA. It is no surprise that the CDC has identified E-cigarette, or Vaping, product use Associated Lung Injury (EVALI) as a result of vaping harmful aerosols.
Our technology delivers nicotine to the consumer without exposing the inhalable nicotine-based vapor to heating elements of any kind. Therefore, Respira has created an experience devoid of HPHCs, or more simply, without toxins or carcinogens. Our device addresses oral fixation while delivering “just the drug.” Without youth attracting flavors or other disingenuous marketing endeavors - our products are designed for the discerning adult.
The Problem in Cannabis
The burgeoning cannabis industry has adopted the technology of the e-nicotine industry and has thus inherited the same issues. The reality is, that heat-based aerosolization or “vapor” devices are unintentionally, but quite drastically, transforming safe extracts, including potentially beneficial cannabinoids into toxins and carcinogens.
Today’s cannabinoid consumers are health conscious individuals who often prefer plant-based compounds over synthetic alternatives. However, many cannabinoid consumers are unwittingly inhaling unsafe levels of carcinogens, when using these heat-based legacy “vape devices".
It is important to note that only technologies shown to deliver the potential benefits of CBD/THC products without toxicants and carcinogens will be considered for future medical applications.
We believe that when it comes to product and consumer safety, materials and methods matter. One does not exonerate the other. The same focus on Q&C that is exercised on the extraction and liquid engineering of these drugs, must also be implemented against the methods and technologies, which deliver these compounds.
